Standex Electronics Acquires BG Laboratories

Acquisition Provides Standex Electronics With Increased Share of High-End Custom Designed Magnetics Market
Aug 11, 2008 Standex Electronics acquired privately owned BG Laboratories, a leading manufacturer of custom-designed magnetics for the aviation, aerospace and military end-markets. Binghamton, NY-based BG Laboratories will be integrated into the Company's Engineered Products Group as part of Standex Electronics.

Acquiring BG Laboratories will enable Standex Electronics to:

• Expand its presence in the market for custom designed, high-end magnetics products;
  
• Leverage BG Laboratories' established relationships with customers in the aviation, aerospace and military end markets;
  
• Capitalize on cross-selling opportunities;
  
• Sell a broader range of products to common customers; and
  
• Enhance margins through cost synergies.

"Our acquisition of BG Laboratories expands Standex Electronics' customer base in the aerospace and defense market segments and increases our market share in the higher-margin custom engineered magnetics market," said Roger Fix, Standex International president and chief executive officer. "BG Laboratories serves an impressive list of blue chip customers that use its high-reliability products for mission critical applications. We expect to achieve significant sales synergies since we will now be able to sell a much broader spectrum of custom-designed magnetics for a wider range of applications at existing and new customers. Furthermore, combining BG Laboratories with our Standex Electronics operations provides us with opportunities for cost synergies."

Standex Electronics Receives Award from the Ohio Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities



August 13, 2008 (Columbus, Ohio) Governor Ted Strickland and Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner joined the Ohio Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities (GCPD) Wednesday August 13, for the 2008 Governor’s Council on People with Disabilities Annual Awards Ceremony. Ten awards were presented to businesses and individuals from across Ohio that have shown outstanding leadership and determination on behalf of people with disabilities.

Standex Electronics received the 'Employer-of -the-Year' for medium sized companies (26 to 500 employees) for 2008. The purpose of these awards is to honor the nominees judged most outstanding in meeting the criteria for the current year. The employers selected are considered a symbol of all who have significantly contributed to employment opportunities for people with disabilities. It is anticipated that their example will inspire others and will encourage employers to emphasize ability rather than disability as the important factor in employment, promotion, and advancement within the company.
